So I found my old diary from 2012 and am reading through it. I'll actually be reading a small piece of it on stage for my new solo show. In fact, that's why I'm looking through it at all. It ended up being kind of an epic journey rescuing this old document from a failing hard drive... I very narrowly avoided losing this journal altogether, but I'd already written in a scene where I go and find an old diary entry I remember writing, and I was committed to the bit.
The above is from a different entry I just happened to notice while scrolling through looking for something specific. It jumped out at me.
There's something about viewing life from this angle -- present day me knowing everything 5-years-ago me didn't when writing this.
